VIA VENETO AND AROUND
Introduction
The Via Vittorio Veneto became famous as the vibrant heart of the 'dolce vita', or 'sweet life', made famous by the Italian film-director Federico Fellini. Though the street has lost its fame as meeting-point of the rich and famous, it is still lined with some imposing and expensive hotels and terraces. At the top-end of the via Veneto lies the Villa Borghese. This park, the biggest of Rome, houses the Galleria Borghese museum with an impressive collection of art, including works of Bernini, Caravaggio and Rubens. The park itself is a great place to get away from the hustle, the traffic and the crowds of the Eternal City.
